At Home Learning beginning November 30 for grades 7-9

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As most of you know, starting Monday November 30 some changes are occurring at the school.  These changes are mandated by the Provincial Government.

  1. All students in grade 7 – 12 are to do school online instead of at school.
  2. All students in grade 6 and under are to continue to attend school in person.

Unlike what happened last spring, we are expected to deliver the entire curriculum and hope that students will do the same amount of work at home as they would have done in school.  While we expect some adjustments, this is roughly the schedule we hope the students will be able to do.

Option courses, Flex repeat and PE will not be taught during the weeks of at home learning.

Classes will begin at 9:00 am.  From 9:00 am to 2:10,  we hope the students will be actively attending to their school work.  Teachers will be sending out assignments, as well as having a zoom call or google meet for whole class lessons.  We will try to schedule these zooms or google meets so they occur during the regularly scheduled class time.  We realize that families do not usually have multiple devices so it may be difficult for family members to connect at the same time.

2:10 each day we have a scheduled reading block.  We expect that all students will read for 20 to 30 minutes every day.

The school will still be open and if you need to pick up or drop off assignments that can be done.  Also, if needed students can book appointments with their teachers for one on one help at the school.

Prior to leaving school on Friday, the teachers spent time ensuring that your children know what is expected.  Students may also be receiving a follow-up email sometime Monday with a more complete schedule and clear expectations from their teachers.
