Quarter 2 options

Here are the options to begin November 12 and run until January 24.

Monday/Wednesday  

 

  • Archery 

 

    • Students will learn how to shoot compound bows in a competition-style format. 

 

  • Band (Gr. 6)

 

    • This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of music, including reading sheet music, playing instruments, and understanding rhythm and melody. This class is required for all grade 6 students in the first 2 quarters. 

 

  • Drawing

 

    • Students will learn the art principles and practice sketching and drawing skills. 

 

  • Native Studies

 

    • Students will work with a First Nation liaison to learn about the rich culture and history of the Blackfoot people. 

 

  • Bread Making

 

    • Students will learn the art of bread making. They will learn to bake a variety of different breads.  (Limit of 12)

 

  • Minecraft Construction

 

    • Students will use computers and the Minecraft Education app to create different structures and buildings from around the world. This is an engineering, coding, and problem-solving class. 



Tuesday/Thursday 

 

  • Art
  • Students will use a variety of art techniques in a range of mediums to create projects.  

 

 

  • Film Study

 

    • Students will watch and compare a variety of films and compare them to real-life events. 

 

  • Racquet Sports

 

    • Students will learn the rules, skills, and strategies to play pickleball and badminton.

 

  • Sewing

 

    • Students will learn to use sewing machines and make projects with fabric.

 

  • Hot Lunch

 

    • Students will learn how to prepare and serve meals to students in the school.

 

  • Knitting and Weaving

 

    • Students will explore multiple handwork crafts using yarn and fiber. Teachers will facilitate and students will choose the projects they would like to try:  Knitting, weaving, crochet, embroidery, macrame, etc. 

 

  • Band (7-9)

 

    • Students will continue to develop their musical skills. This is for students with at least one year of foundation in a band instrument.
